Seniors in both Civics classes were joined in a Google Meet by virtual guest speaker Joe Brumleve, a Cobden High School alum and currently a student at SIUC. He spoke to the students about his experience in college and provided them with tips for success! Members of Cobden Youth & Community Advocates (CYCA) recently sold blue-out shirts to raise awareness of Child Abuse. April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and the entire district plans to hold a blue-out April 16th. Pictured here are CYCA members presenting a check of $774.55 for the Children's Medical & Mental Health Resource Network of Southern Illinois to Ginger Myer. The money will be used to benefit children that the Anna, IL office serves.

After attending the Dale Fowler Youth Summit, Civics student Aubrey Fisher was selected to represent all of Southern Illinois on the Lt. Governor's "We Are One: Women & Girls Virtual Summit" on March 24th and was able to advocate for our next generation of women. Aubrey stated, "Speaking with Lieutenant Governor Stratton and others on the call was inspiring and insightful! The atmosphere was super welcoming and supportive. I was able to talk to Lt. Governor Stratton about the disparities between rural schools and larger ones. Being able to speak to such a high ranking official about this matter was incredible." Congratulations Aubrey and thank you for representing us so well!
