Mr. Crawford's industrial design class assembling our new CNC plasma cutter. Mrs. Lefevere and Mr. Crawford will both be utilizing this new technology in their curriculum.
Education Pathway students, Madison and Connor are gaining hands on experience assisting elementary students. Madison, Connor and the four other students in the Education Pathway are a part of a new program at Cobden High School that promotes “growing our own” future teachers! In addition to the classroom experience, these students will graduate with an Education Endorsement on their diploma and will have 2 dual credit classes that count towards a Teacher Education major under their belts!
Congratulations to Colton Clausen and Halle Short on great showings at the Section 24 FFA Livestock Show. The horse show was held Friday afternoon at the Union County Fair and the Livestock show took place Saturday morning. We are proud of your accomplishments!
Two of our seniors, Ava and Jenny, are participating in the STEP program at Cobden High School. They have spent the week being trained in office and clerical skills so they can help the front office and teachers with different tasks throughout the year. They are awesome and hard workers!

HS volleyball vs AJ (8/26) has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.
High school baseball games against Egyptian and Century scheduled for this week have been postponed. Both games will be rescheduled and information will be available as soon as possible.

Please exit the parking lot by proceeding in front of the high school building. Thru traffic is not allowed in the student parking lot.
Good evening Appleknockers! As we prepare to begin the new school year TOMORROW, I just wanted to pass along a few bits of information.
* School begins at 8:02, the doors open at 7:30. Come in, don't linger in the parking lot. Go put your things in your locker and chill in the hall until the bell rings.
* Keep your mask over your mouth AND nose. Stay home if you don't feel good.
* Breakfast and lunch are FREE this year so don't stress! The cafeteria staff will be happy to help you with your growling stomach.
* If you prefer to bring your lunch, the microwaves will be available this year. And please remember, NO NUTS!
* Water fountains are still off limits but water bottle filling stations are available. Bring a CLEAR water bottle every day! Especially when it's hot outside, PE can be brutal!
* Backpacks aren't allowed in the classrooms or bathrooms. Use your lockers!
* School will dismiss at 2:05 all week and NO SCHOOL this Friday.
* New students- Don't worry! Your teachers are always available to help you! We won't let you get lost. We will gladly help you with your locker combinations. And you're going to make so many new friends! We have the best students around!

For those who do not have school supplies yet, the Anna VFW Auxiliary will be giving away supplies at the VFW this Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and Monday from 4-6 p.m.

Student Parking information
CYCA would like to thank Christine Genung of Owl Creek for the generous donation of mulch and potting soil for the community garden. We are starting to see weekly produce now, and it is going to the Elementary food pantry. Also thanks to the volunteers who are helping with its upkeep this summer. It takes a village!
Student schedules will be available for pickup on August 9th from 10:00-2:00 and August 10th from 4:30-6:00 pm in the high school lobby.
This year we are offering two different orientation times for new students and incoming 6th and 9th-grade students. Orientation for any new jr high and/or 6th-grade student will be on August 10th from 5:45-6:45 pm in the high school library. New high school and/or 9th-grade students will have orientation from 7:00-8:00 pm. There will be a short presentation, a chance for questions, and an opportunity to tour the building.
New students to the district will receive student schedules on the first day of school. If you cannot attend orientation or pick up your schedule you can also preview it through your Teacherease account. Please get in touch with Mrs. Reiman at areiman@cusd17.com with any questions.
