This afternoon we celebrated our students who will graduate in May having earned a College and Career Pathway Endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education. In order to earn this endorsement, students completed 60 hours of hands-on career experiences, two dual credit classes, two team based challenges and other career exploration activities. Pictured below are pathway students who plan to continue their education, majoring in Education or Nursing.
Human and Public Services (Education) Pathway: Left to right, Maya Tripp (John A. Logan), Ramsie Sauerbrunn (ISU), Beatrix Genung (ISU), Lindsey Windings (SEMO), Sophie Barnhart (EIU)
Health, Sciences and Technology (CNA) Pathway: Left to right, Zitlalli Tomas (SCC), Madison Moreland (John A. Logan) and Emma Roberts (SIUE).
We are so proud of these students for putting in the extra work to earn these endorsements!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and promote the well-being of children.
It is also Autism Acceptance Month, with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, which encourages understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism.
Since the color blue represents both causes, we invite you to wear blue every Friday in April to show your support!

CYCA's district-wide cause to raise awareness and funds for this year is the Carbondale Warming Center. We will take part in a green-out May 8th. The Carbondale Warming Center can accommodate 39 guests in the emergency shelter and 40 in the overflow program. They provide three meals a day with assistance from a partnership with Bethel AME church’s Feed My Sheep Program. They also provide clothing, shoes, and hygiene items. Below is the t-shirt we are selling to raise funds for the organization. Forms are due by Monday April 14th. Forms are being sent home with students. You may also fill out and print this form, or shirts can be purchased from this link- https://shopsilkworm.com/cobdenhscwc

Congratulations to this year's Prom King & Queen Thomas Coleman and Lindsey Windings

🌿 Exciting Day at Cobden High School! 🌿
Our Horticulture class recently had an incredible field trip to the SIU Greenhouses! A huge thank you to Kaitlyn Masterfor sharing her vast knowledge and expertise with us.
The students had the fantastic opportunity to explore multiple greenhouses, learn about various plants, and even plant a hydroponics system! Each student also got to plant their own plants to take home, fostering their love for horticulture.
Kaitlyn remarked on how kind and attentive our students were throughout the visit, which reflects the great spirit of our Cobden community. 🌱
We are so proud of our students and grateful for the learning experiences they are getting! Keep growing, Cobden! 🌼

Cobden Art Club competed at Marion's High Schools annual Trash the Runway competition today. Teams made these beautiful dresses from scratch using recycled materials and trash!
