Sgt. Bryant, with the Army National Guard, visited CHS last Friday for our first Lunch and Learn of the year. He shared about all the opportunities the Guard can provide students in Southern Illinois.

Each year on 9/11, Mrs. Nash-Mayberry takes both government classes down to the Cobden Veterans Memorial after learning about 9/11, as a reminder that freedom isn't free.

Co Op student, Dixie Kaufman, works at Anna Tire and Auto Center. Dixie currently works in the office, but will begin working in the shop soon. Dixie earned rave reviews from her manager and has been a great asset in the office!
Freshmen in Introduction to Family and Consumer Sciences class are wrapping up the child development unit. Students completed stations to experience preschool development. They had fun practicing tasks with their nondominate hand to see what is it like when your small motor skills are still developing.

Mr. LeFevre's Coffee Company has successfully completed their second week making coffee and hot chocolate for the faculty and staff. This is a new venture on Friday mornings, and as you can see, everyone is enjoying it!
Co Op student, Maria Martinez works at Don Taco in Carbondale. Maria is gaining experience in customer service and food service. Maria's manager said she is doing a great job and is looking forward to being a part of the Co Op program.

Class of 2027 and Educators Rising Club are selling mums for $18! Mums are planted in a 9in diameter pot. Mums typically grow 18-22in in diameter, but this varies with weather conditions. A variety of colors will be available and will be first come, first served. Pick up is on Wednesday, September 18 from 3:05-4:00 at the park behind the small gym.
