Mrs. Reiman thanks Duilio Cervantes, Manuel Partida, Angel Lopez, and Alanna Kaminsky with the SIU Medical program for visiting CHS on Friday for a Lunch and Learn. They shared valuable information about what students can do now to help prepare them for a future career in medicine and the benefits the SIU Medical Program has for students in Southern Illinois.


Child Development students are finishing up their unit on Preschool Development. High school students visited Mrs. Raganyi’s preschool class and read books with the children. Mrs. Raganyi spoke with the high school students about what it is like to teach PreK. 👩🏻🏫 🖍️ 📕






7th grade enjoyed a walking field trip to the Union County Museum on Friday to learn about local civil war history.

Congratulations to Mackenzie Jackson, Grace Hawkins, Shawnah Burgess, Bea Genung, and Ramsie Sauerbrunn on all being named state finalists at the Springfield history fair.





Educators Rising Club welcomed guest speaker, Dr. Brianna Jansen Sanchez. Dr. Sanchez conducted hands on activities about supporting multilingual learners and different options for studying world languages, and earning bilingual and ESL licensures through SIU.


State history fair participants and teachers Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Nashberry, and Ms. Green toured the Capitol in Springfield while waiting for project judging to complete. They also toured the Lincoln museum.

Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic runs Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th at 7:00pm at The Varsity Theater in Carbondale. Mrs. Nashberry and Mrs. Reiman took 25 CYCA members to volunteer at Special Olympics in Herrin today. They worked hard to make it a fun day for all of the athletes.



The Animal Science class enjoyed a beautiful day at the zoo today! Students chose an animal to research and created an informational presentation. Students were happy to meet the animals they researched and completed a fact scavenger hunt while at the zoo today!

The Appleknocker Agriculture Department Students have been busy! Students in Mrs. LeFevre’s Horticulture class enjoyed breaking ground in the school garden this week. Vegetables will be planted over the next week and maintained during the summer for SAE projects. Mechanics class have enjoyed working on small engines, tearing them down and rebuilding.



Jr. High Golf Match at Union County Country Club has been cancelled for today and no golf practice today.

6th and 9th grade students that have not turned in a Dental Exam must do so by May 15th.
