A Fond Farewell to Ms. Becca In Mrs. Jerrell’s Pre-K class
Students and staff recently said goodbye to Ms. Becca, a valued paraprofessional and student teacher. Ms. Becca has been an incredible part of our classroom community, bringing kindness, creativity, and a passion for early childhood education. We are proud to share that she recently graduated from Southern Illinois University with her bachelor’s degree in education. This fall, she will begin an exciting new chapter as a teacher in another school district. While we are sad to see her go, we are thrilled for the students who will benefit from her talents and dedication. Congratulations, Ms. Becca, on this important milestone! You will be truly missed, and we wish you all the best in your teaching journey.

Have you ever watched a butterfly take its first flight? Mrs.Jerrell’s Pre-K class had the joy of witnessing the magic of transformation during our butterfly study! From tiny caterpillars to chrysalises, and finally to beautiful butterflies—we observed it all. The children recently released 10 butterflies into the world, and it was a moment full of wonder and excitement. What a beautiful way to celebrate growth and connect with nature!

This week, we’re giving a huge shoutout to our amazing kitchen team — Mrs. Hall, Ms. Bridget, Ms. Valerie, Ms. Emilia , and Ms. Becka (not pictured)— for their dedication, teamwork, and the care they put into every meal served at our school. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or a special treat, they show up each day with smiles, heart, and a commitment to making sure every student is nourished and cared for.
We also want to recognize Lacy Plott, one of our outstanding students. Her responsibility, kindness, and positive attitude have not gone unnoticed!

Congratulations to our Cobden athletes who brought home ribbons from the Lick Creek Track Meet last Friday! We’re so proud of your hard work, determination, and sportsmanship. Way to represent Cobden with pride. Great job, everyone!
We just have to brag on Ms. Mueller’s class! They’ve been busy with hands-on learning—making slime yesterday and creating salt dough landforms today. The best part? These students showed incredible behavior and responsibility during both (very messy!) activities. We’re so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm for learning!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to make you aware that we are monitoring recent social media trends, particularly on TikTok, that encourage students to intentionally damage school-issued Chromebooks. While we have not seen widespread issues at our school, we want to be proactive in addressing this concern.
Please talk with your child about the importance of taking care of their Chromebook and using it responsibly. Any student found intentionally damaging a Chromebook will be held financially responsible for the repair or replacement costs and will face school consequences for their behavior.
We appreciate your partnership in helping students make positive choices and understand the importance of respecting school property. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Mrs. Middleton’s 2nd grade class said goodbye to their student teacher, Ms. Flores, this week. A proud Appleknocker, Ms. Flores attended Cobden for elementary, middle, and high school, graduating in 2021. It was a wonderful experience to have a former student return to the classroom—this time as a teacher. She will be deeply missed by the students. Best of luck on your next teaching adventure, Ms. Flores!
