Our 1st–5th graders are off to the SIU Women’s Basketball game this afternoon! It’s always exciting to cheer on the Salukis and experience the energy of a college game together. What a fun field trip for our students—Go Salukis! 🏀🐾

After-School Tutoring begins today for 1st-4th grade 3:00-4:30 PM. Tutoring will occur each Tuesday and Thursday. 5th grade will begin tutoring on Thursday.

A big thank you to all the students who entered drawings for the t-shirt design for the Christmas in the Village 5k, December 6th! The top 3 designers won a prize. Pictured with the winners are Ms. Margarita and Mrs. Stroehlein . 1st Place Wyatt Schilling, 2nd Place Meredith DeMarie and 3rd Place Audrey Hackett! Be sure to be on the lookout for more information about all the fun activities planned for Christmas in the Village!

🎃 Happy Halloween from Cobden Elementary! 👻 Our students had a spooktacular day filled with fun, smiles, and creativity! 🎭 We wrapped up the celebration with a festive costume parade in the gym—thank you to all who helped make the day so special. 🧡🖤

🌳 Amazing Appleknockers Adventure! 🌳 Ms. Mueller and Ms. Lyerla’s 1st grade class had a wonderful day exploring Giant City State Park! 🥾 The students enjoyed two hikes, a picnic lunch, and time in the visitor center learning about the park’s plants and animals. Even though the weather was a little icky, their smiles and excitement made it a perfect day for outdoor fun and discovery! ☔🍂💚

Mrs. Raganyis Pre-k is working on teamwork and kindness this week. The boys were working together today to build a house.

*Students are welcome to wear costumes to school (please keep them school-appropriate).

*Early Dismissal at 11:30 AM.

*A sack lunch will be provided before dismissal.

*Parent-Teacher Conferences will continue in the afternoon.

*Appleknocker Club will be available until 3:30 PM.

Don’t feel like cooking? No worries — we’ve got you covered! Let the Cobden Jr. High Cheerleaders handle dinner for you! Join us Monday, October 27th from 5–9 PM at Pizza Villa in Anna, IL.

Mrs. Middleton’s class explored water habitats in reading and science last week! The students wrapped up the week by observing local pond water samples and artifacts from the ocean during science class. They loved getting hands-on and being scientists!

The Cobden PTO is excited to kick off the Schoolhouse Cheesecake Fundraiser! Order forms went home with students today, but if you’d like to participate and don’t have a student in our school, you can stop by the office to place your order. All orders are due by November 10th, and pickup will be on Monday, November 24th, from 3:00–7:00 PM at Schoolhouse Cheesecakes in Anna, IL. Thank you for supporting our school!
