Our 2nd graders had a fantastic visit from Mrs. Zachary, a Missouri State Parks employee, who taught them all about the historic Bollinger Mill! Students enjoyed a virtual tour of the mill and even had the opportunity to grind their own corn and wheat.
Both 2nd grade classes have been reading the Little House on the Prairie series, so it was especially exciting for them to see how the Ingalls family would have gotten flour and cornmeal in the late 1800s. Such a fun and meaningful hands-on learning experience!

Mrs. Raganyi's Pre-K Class had a special visitor and presentation today! Mrs. Zachary came in to show the class how to make their own flour! It was a cool, fun, and exciting experience for everyone!

Shoutout to our Amazing Appleknockers: Mrs. Jerrell, Everett Hale, and Mrs. Tripp! 🍎 Your hard work, positivity, and dedication do not go unnoticed—thank you for all you do!

Yesterday the cafeteria served up some delicious fresh chicken tacos with pico de gallo using local chicken! The students and staff all enjoyed the wonderful meal!
March Madness fun! 🏀
5th graders in Mr. Clutts’ class enjoyed watching tournament action during recess and cheering on their teams.

The Cobden Elementary School Appleknocker Club would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Engelmann and her Ed Rising students for visiting! They provided a snack, read a book with the students, helped everyone create a superhero, and gifted each Appleknocker Club student a book. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and kindness they shared with our students!

Educators Rising Club has been busy! Last Friday, our future teachers spent the day job shadowing teachers in PreK-8th grade. Students gained valuable hands-on experiences and learned what it is like as a teacher behind the scenes. Yesterday, Educators Rising Club hosted a reading event with Appleknocker Club. The Southern IL Future Teacher Coalition provided a Dog Man book, snack, and a superhero themed art activity for each student. I'm not sure who had more fun, the high school students or the elementary students!

The last day for 1st-3rd grade After-School Tutoring is March 24th.
Senior Beta Club and the Cobden Fire Department are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at Cobden New Park on Saturday, April 4th, at 2:00 pm. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance, and children ages 10 and under are invited to come hunt for candy-filled eggs. We hope to see you there!

FCA Save the Date
Ms. Lyerla’s first grade class took advantage of the sunshine today by taking their learning outside! ☀️ It was a beautiful day to enjoy fresh air while staying engaged and focused on learning.

Ms. Lacy’s students got festive for St. Patrick’s Day by creating colorful rainbows using Fruit Loops, marshmallows, and pipe cleaners. A fun and creative way to celebrate! 🌈🍀

Congratulations to our 4th and 5th grade Kindness Poster Contest winners! 🎨💙
These students used their creativity to share powerful messages about kindness and how we can make our school a better place. We are proud of the thought, effort, and positivity they put into their work. Great job representing what it means to be kind! 👏

Ms. Mueller’s 1st graders made math hands-on today! 🥨
They practiced adding two-digit numbers using pretzels for tens and Cheerios for ones — a fun (and tasty!) way to see place value in action. Way to make learning stick!

Our 4th graders dug into science by creating edible soil profiles — and yes, they were as delicious as they were educational! 🍪🌱
Students layered tasty ingredients to represent each horizon of the soil, learning how soil is formed and why each layer matters. From topsoil to bedrock, they built their models, explained their thinking, and then enjoyed the sweetest science lesson ever.
Hands-on learning + big smiles = a great day in 4th grade! 😋
