6th graders participated in a mock trial of Hammurabi’s Court this morning as they interpreted early written laws. These students really got into their roles!

The High School Volleyball game at Joppa has been postponed to Wednesday 9/29. Varsity only at 6pm. No practice tonight.

8th grade practiced their figurative language by playing headbands in Language Art’s class.

We are very excited to announce that we received notice from the Illinois State Board of Education that Cobden High School is approved to offer a College and Career Pathway Endorsement in Human and Public Services (Education). This means that the students below will meet specific requirements and earn a special seal on their diploma. With this recognition, students will qualify for certain education scholarships as well as the potential for other incentives in teacher education programs. These students are formally recognized by ISBE as college and career ready. 👩🏻🏫 👨🏻🏫

Mrs. LeFevre’s Introduction to Agriculture class is currently learning about wood working in the shop. This week they are creating signs with Dremel tools. Great job 8th graders!

Foods I students practiced their knife skills today. Students used play dough to practice cutting batonnet, julienne, brunoise, small dice and medium dice. Students will apply these skills when they make homemade vegetable soup later this week! 🍅 🥔 🔪




Lisa Meyer from the Financial Aid Office at Shawnee College spoke with Adult Living class today. She stressed the importance of applying for scholarships and she also explained student loans and work study. This is a great resource for college and trade school bound students!

The high school cross country meet at Goreville has been canceled due to weather
6th graders are learning how to play one of the oldest games in history, the Royal Game of Ur, as part of their study of Ancient Mesopotamia. Game pieces were recreated using the class’ 3D printer.



The first round Softball Regional game has been postponed until tomorrow, weather permitting.
7th graders presented their Native American Living History projects in Social Studies today, many complete with model homes and tribe-specific attire!

Co Op student, Katelyn Shadowens works at Jordo’s Pizza in Anna. Katelyn not only prepares pizzas but has taken on a leadership role. Katelyn is a very hard worker and has a bright future ahead of her!
