
Cobden School District will dismiss this afternoon at our regular 3:00 dismissal time. Buses will run as usual. However, there will be NO Appleknocker Club or after-school activities. ALL athletic events and practices have been cancelled this evening.

Students in Mrs. Nashberry's Civics classes heard from guest speaker Paul Echols. Echols was very instrumental in solving the cold case of 9 murders committed in the last 1970s/80 by a criminal throughout southern Illinois and Missouri. He also worked with the Innocence Project to clear a person's name who was wrongly convicted for a crime in southern Illinois that they didn't commit. Students appreciated him answering all of their questions about criminal justice and the book that he wrote.



High School Volleyball CONFERENCE CHAMPS shirts are on sale now! Order forms are available in the office and must be returned by January 21.


In 8th grade , Language Arts students finished up a unit on argumentative essays by having a Socratic seminar. They successfully argued their points using evidence and research.

Congratulations to Kaya Coleman on being the Cobden High School VFW Voice of Democracy Winner, advancing to sectionals, and placing Third at that level. The sectional covers schools of all sizes over an area from Sesser to Mounds to Harrisburg to Murphysboro. Here she is pictured with Linda Jackson from the Anna VFW receiving her local award.


A reminder that visitors are REQUIRED to wear a mask while inside the building. This includes at all sporting events here and at Unity Point for high school boys basketball games. If you do not wear a mask, you will will not be allowed to enter.

Mrs. Guijon's 8th grade ESL Reading class finished a Novel-Unit on Rebeldes, spanish-version of The Outsiders. These were a couple of the final projects done by her students.





The Cobden Student Mental Health Advisory Council and the Cobden FFA would like to thank the community of Cobden and the Toys for Tots organization for their generous donations! All items will be donated to storm victims. Donations will be accepted until Friday afternoon!


Congratulations to Abbigail Remsey for being nominated as the AJ Rotary Student of the Quarter for Quarter 1. She was nominated for her outstanding work ethic in the classroom and her positive attitude.


Seniors Olivia Brumleve and Callie McGee recently attended Senator Bryant's Youth Advisory Council meeting at SIUC. They heard from a number of speakers and worked on developing a bill that will later be presented in Springfield.
