One step closer! New heat and A/C units were placed on top of the new gym facility today!

Today, students attended a Lunch and Learn with two representatives from SIH Respiratory Care. They learned about the day in the life of a Respiratory Therapist and awesome scholarship opportunities to help pay for their higher education.



Mechanics class and Co- Op students enjoyed learning about career possibilities at the Trade Career Expo today. Students learned about metal working, electricity, heavy equipment operating, and many more!



Mrs. LeFevre’s class enjoyed picking green peppers and flowers from the school garden to give to the food shelter and Mrs. Bri!

Foods 1 students just completed the vegetable and knife skills unit. Students hosted a homemade salsa competition today! Thank you to our judges and congratulations to Daisy, Mariana, Lucy and Jose on winning first place!








Members of the Cobden Youth & Community Advocates (CYCA) and Art Club under the supervision of Mrs. Nashberry and parent volunteer Jamie Basler painted round 2 of the "Greetings From Alto Pass" mural Monday afternoon on the side of the fire station, to resemble a cork board. The next steps will include priming and painting at school the 4 postcard boards of Alto scenes before installation of the boards and the adding of the words. Stay tuned!

Jr. High students have been have been busy in Social Studies class recreating Paleolithic cave art, studying 3D replicas of ancient tools, researching Native American cultures, touring WWI-era trenches, and playing the oldest board game in human history. It's been a fun month!










Foods I students are practicing their knife skills and learning the correct way to chop an onion. They will put these skills to use next week during their homemade salsa competition. 🧅


Senior Parents

2023 Miss Peach Fest, Kaylee Hall, made her first appearance at Cobden Elementary with Mrs. Mueller's first graders. They had a blast together!




Mum pickup is tomorrow, Wednesday! If you ordered a mum, please pick it up behind the band room right after school until 4:00. We will have tents set up, so you can't miss us! Members of Cobden Youth & Community Advocates (CYCA) participated in the fall Cobden Cleanup Sunday. They learned about the importance of recycling, then went to work collecting trash. Special thanks to Shane Bruce for organizing the event and providing the pizza. Also thanks to the CCA members, parents, Cobden P.D., and volunteer CYCA co -sponsor Carlee Coplea who helped supervise the event. Thanks to Cobden Village Shops for being the host gathering location.










The winners of the Union County Constitution Essay Contest were Tess Bummer for the high school level and Jaylyn Stroehlein for the junior high level. Both read their winning essays at the celebration Saturday evening at Jonesboro Park.

Grace White and Mrs. Ronna are looking snazzy today in their matching shirts! Grace is in the Education Pathway and has been working with Mrs. Ronna and gaining hands on experience in the music classroom. She will major in music education next year! 🎶

Alexis Oswald with SEMO visited CHS today for our first Lunch and Learn of the year. Students ate lunch and listened to all of the programs, scholarships, and organizations SEMO has to offer them.
The Lunch and Learn series will allow students to meet with various college and career representatives this year to learn more about their opportunities after high school.

The senior class attended SIU Day yesterday. Students were able to explore different majors and learn about different opportunities at SIU. Former students and the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor even stopped by to say hi. It was a great day!
