Class of 2027 and Educators Rising Club are selling mums for $18! Mums are planted in a 9in diameter pot. Mums typically grow 18-22in in diameter, but this varies with weather conditions. A variety of colors will be available and will be first come, first served. Pick up is on Wednesday, September 18 from 3:05-4:00 at the park behind the small gym. Please see a sophomore, Ed Rising member, or email kengelmann@cusd17.com or hhurt@cusd17.com to order a mum.
Southern Illinois FCA is hosting Faith & Family Night at the SIU football game on Saturday, September 14th. Interested students and families should submit ticket requests to the SIU Ticket Office. Contact Mrs. Taylor with any questions.

This is a reminder to turn in your students required health documentation to Nurse Holly.
6th grade requirements: Physical exam (due by 10/15/24) and Dental exam
9th grade requirements: Physical exam (due by 10/15/24) and Dental exam
12th grade requirements: 2nd Meningococcal vaccine (due by 10/15/24)
If your student plays sports, please make sure they have an up to date physical on file at the school, per IHSA guidelines.

Mason Lyerla was elected as the 2024-2025 Vice President of Educators Rising Illinois. Mason will represent the state of Illinois at several future teacher events this year. Mason is currently a junior in the Education Pathway and hopes to be a Social Sciences teacher one day.
Ed Rising held their first meeting of the year! 35 students showed interest in becoming a teacher or working with children in the future. This year's officers did an excellent job leading the meeting. Mrs. Reiman is currently scheduling community stakeholders to present about college, career, and trade opportunities to current Cobden High School students. Lunch-n-Learns is an informal brown bag lunch series that provides individuals from various post-secondary, career, and trade backgrounds with an opportunity to talk about their field of interest to our students. If you have a program or career you want to present to CHS students, Mrs. Reiman invites you to be added to our Lunch-n-Learn Program schedule.

24-25 Cobden Unit School District #17 Calendar Update
*September 20th will no longer be an 11:30 dismissal for students. Students will have a full attendance day.
*October 4th will now be an 11:30 dismissal for students. Students will dismiss at 11:30 for staff to participate in school improvement activities.

October 4th- 11:30 student dismissal

Lead AV Club Editor Mason Lyerla and volunteer sponsor Mrs. Nashberry worked on adjusting lighting and sound this morning in the new green screen room, which is across from Mrs. Engelmann's room, and are hoping to recruit some new members for this year's season of Appleknocker News.
