Dear Cobden Families,
It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our high school students. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the student’s family, friends, and all those grieving this loss.
We understand that this news may be difficult for our students, staff, and families in our school community. Counselors and support staff will be available tomorrow from 8 AM - 12 PM in the high school library to provide assistance for anyone in need. We encourage families to talk with their children, listen to their concerns, and reach out for support as needed. We are here to support our school community in any way possible.
In light of this tragedy, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the basketball games and Hall of Fame recognition event scheduled for Saturday. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our students, staff, and community during this time. We will share any updates about rescheduling events in the future.

To mark this special milestone, we’re hosting a school-wide cereal box domino event!
We invite each student to bring a new, unopened box of cereal to help us line the halls and create an epic domino display.
After the event, all donated cereal boxes will go to the school food pantry to support families in need.

Mrs. Wiltowski received her certificate for being recognized as the Shawnee Region Elementary School Principal of the Year from the Illinois Principals Association. Nominated by her staff, she is celebrated for consistently going above and beyond for both staff and students. As a principal, she leads by example, always prioritizing the well-being of everyone in the school community. Mrs. Wiltowski ensures that everyone feels heard, valued, and supported in meeting their needs. Her approachable nature fosters open communication, and she encourages innovation in teaching. Under her leadership, the school thrives as a dynamic learning environment that stays aligned with current trends in education.
Reminder: After-School Tutoring resumes today Tuesday, January 14th. Tutoring will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice. Pick up time is 4:30 PM.
