2nd Grade went on their annual Fall field trip to Bandy’s Pumpkin Patch and then had a picnic at the Cobden soccer park. This Fall, the students have been learning about pumpkin life cycles and are soon going to be doing a fun science experiment with a pumpkin that they picked from Bandy’s. They also had a great time playing soccer in the sun at the park after their picnic. ☀️ 🎃 🛝

Golf Team Silent Auction Limited Time

🎉 Today was a blast! Our students had a great time cheering on their teachers and staff during the Inflatable Costume Race! 🏃♂️🏃♀️ Watching everyone dash (and wobble!) across the gym in their giant, hilarious costumes had everyone laughing and having a fantastic time. 🤣
A big thank you to our staff for bringing the fun and showing that learning isn't the only thing we do well here—sometimes, we race in giant costumes too! 🎈🏆
Thank you Ms. Stephanie, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Jerrell, Ms. Fabi, Mr. Pinnon, Mrs. Jackson, Mr. Shoemate, Mrs. Uribe, and ourAppleknocker man for racing!
Check out these highlights and share your favorite moments in the comments! 👇

It is a WACKY WEDNESDAY around here!

On Thursday October 10, 2024 we Appleknockers joined the Great Apple Crunch to celebrate Illinois farmers, healthy kids, and strong communities. Participating in the Crunch is simple: buy, serve, and Crunch into locally grown apples! Since 2015 Illinois Farm to School Network has hosted the Crunch in Illinois. Beginning in 2015 with just 45,000 participants, to 2019 with a whopping 605,000 participants the Great Apple Crunch has engaged kids all across Illinois! Now, the Crunch is growing once again and they anticipated over 500,000 Illinois kids were Crunching in October. Special thanks to Flamm Orchards for the donation of apples for the Great Apple Crunch, and thanks to Rendleman Orchards for allowing AV Club to shoot part of this story in their orchards. Thank you to Mason Lyerla, lead editor of Appleknocker News, for filming and editing the story. #GreatAppleCrunch #ILAppleCrunch Video Link- https://youtu.be/bFJSqkG4OvY

Biscuits and Gravy Day! Students enjoying breakfast with friends!

October Menu Update:
Today, Pizza will be served for lunch. Tomorrow, Bison Vegetable Soup, made from scratch will be the main lunch entree. We are excited to try this new menu item using our own local Bison Bluffs Farms bison meat.
To help streamline our breakfast service and move toward the goal of more scratch-made options, we will no longer be offering cereal as a choice each day. The goal for our meals in the menus to come will include a variety of fresh fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and protein-rich items. Our motivation is to provide meals that not only taste great but also help boost energy and concentration throughout the school day.
We encourage you to support this initiative by talking with your children about the benefits of choosing healthier options. Together, we can ensure that our students start their day with the fuel they need to succeed. Thank you for your continued support!

No School- October 11-14 (Teacher Institute and Columbus Day)
After-School Tutoring begins Tuesday, October 15 (3:00-4:30)
